On the 2nd march 1969 Concorde, an Anglo-French plane, took off from Toulouse for a short flight.

The pilot, Andre Turcat, said "Finally the big bird flies, and I can say now that it flies pretty well".

I took a concorde flight with British Airways whilst I was working for a certain US Bank. They had a special offer at the time, flight out by concorde, back by 747.
